Motebang Sera in action for Matlama

Matlama might lose Sera to Pirates

Econet Premier League side, Matlama FC, might lose prolific striker Motebang Sera to ABSA Premier League giants, Orlando Pirates, next year if reports following his seven day trial are anything to go by.

Sera returned home last week and reports from his club are that prospects are promising for the prolific goal-poacher.

Matlama FC Communications and Marketing Manager (CMM), Mr. Tankiso Moletsane, said the player is reported to have impressed during his short stint on trials, but the club is waiting for official documentation from Orlando Pirates.

However, Mr. Moletsane said the information is that Sera will go to South Africa on January 3, but he could not elaborate further, saying they would rather wait for the official word from Pirates before they can make any comments regarding the player’s future.

If the player leaves for South Africa, he will add the number of local players plying their trade in SA to four, after Tumelo Khutlang, Luciano Matsoso, Tsoarelo Bereng and Nkoto Masoabi joined ABSA Premier League side Black Leopards and National First Division side Real Kings at the beginning of the season.

Meanwhile, some Basotho were sceptical about Sera's trials in South Africa following LCS's goalkeeper Samuel Ketsekile's failed trial with Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Likuena international was lured to what was believed to be trials with Mamelodi Sundowns, but was eventually robbed of his valuables - traveling documents and undisclosed amount of money.

Ketsekile heroics for Likuena in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers helped improve the senior soccer side’s chances of qualifying for the 2019 AFCON finals. Lena
