At least one Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) member has perished while three others survived and are recovering at the Queen 'Mamohato Memorial Service following the crash that occurred at the Sehlabathebe, at Qacha's Nek on Thursday.

A press statement from LDF Public Affairs during the crash a member of the army lost his life while a pilot and his assistant and a passenger survived the crash and were rushed to Queen 'Mamohato Memorial Hospital in Maseru where they are being treated.
The press statement says the names of the deceased and those who survived have been withheld until their next of kin have been duly notified by the army Commando.

It says the preliminary investigations at the army Public Affairs office states that the army helicopter was ferrying four army members which included the pilot, his assistant and two other members who were returning from Sehlaba-thebe in Qacha's Nek district to distribute food parcels too hard to reach areas.

This is the second incident to have occurred involving the LDF helicopter after two Lesotho soldiers died when an army helicopter they were flying in, hit power cables in Thaba Putsoa in the highlands of Lesotho on April 13, last year.
Another soldier and an official of the Ministry of Finance survived the incident and were admitted in hospital with serious injuries.
