QWAQWA (TmgLive) - The end of Free State Fashion Week (FSFW) on Monday, 24 September 2018 marked the beginning of model Lungile Mazibuko’s reign as the Face of FSFW. The 25-year-old model from QwaQwa claimed the coveted title ahead of several
other finalists, taking over from Caitlyn Rockman who won the title in 2017.
The elated Mazibuko says she looks forward to growing further as a model during her
tenure as the Face of FSFW, while simultaneously lifting the brand to greater heights.
“It has not sunk in yet; I still can’t believe it, but I look forward to growing and I would
also like to grow the Free State Fashion Week brand to ensure that it is not forgotten,
but is continuously seen out there,” she adds.
Mazibuko will also, over the next year, serve as the FSFW brand ambassador and will
be tasked with taking the brand to new height through set initiatives which include
implementing key social responsibilities projects that positively reflect the values
embodied by the FSFW brand.
“I want to give myself over to the community and not only be part of it.”
Although she emerged as the main winner out several other phenomenal models,
Mazibuko emphasized that she is still part of a collective and that all the other girls
deserve to busk in her Face of FSFW glory as well.
“This journey was a group thing. All finalists should still be part of the whole process,
because we started together and we should go through it together,” she says.
Mazibuko was not the only winner on the day, with stunning 12-year-old model
Mekyla Norval claiming the Face of FSFW junior category title. The teen’s category
winner was the young and very elegant Magdelize Myburg.
The crowning of the Face of FSFW officially closed the 2018 edition of a weeklong
fashion fiesta. With the benchmark higher, fans can truly expect a much bigger and
better FSFW in 2019.
