Maseru (TNS) – Matlama FC visited Maseru LEC Primary School last Friday at Mohalalitoe to distribute uniforms and stationary to needy pupils.
The event was graced by Matlama sponsor, Alliance Insurance Company.
Tse Putsoa Treasurer, Mr. Lesenyeho Tšiu said the visit to the school is one of the items on the list of things that the Sea Point outfit have planned to do to celebrate the team’s 85th Anniversary.
He said the mission is to spend the whole year visiting several schools to let young people know about the existence of the team and also try to help needy children in those schools.
“The purpose of this event is to give back to the community as this team is community owned. We want to make sure that our young supporters at schools know the team and the players.
“The supporters and the management agreed that it will be good to celebrate in style by selecting schools to distribute these items. January is that month when it is not easy for many parents to meet their children’s necessities.
“So we thought it will be helpful if we chip in and try to help,” he said.
In her acceptance speech, the one of the teachers, Mrs. Maleeto Leeto said the school is very happy with the gifts. She said needy pupils found it hard to make it to school due to the absence of school necessities.
“I am honoured and happy to be one of the speakers at this humbling and touching event. We want to thank the Matlama team for what they have done. These gifts will help our children here at school.
“I am sure that everyone at the school will always put Matlama first because of this. I want to promise the team that the teachers and children will remain supporters of Tse Putsoa until the end,” she said.
Present at the ceremony were the club’s players, team’s coaches – Mosito Matela and Matsoai Shokhoe, the team’s Communications and Marketing Manager, Mr. Tankiso Moletsane, and the Alliance Insurance Sales Consultant, Ms. Malekhanya Letsoela.
