The Prime Minister (PM) Thomas Thabane celebrated his marriage to Mrs. ‘Maesaih Thabane at the fully packed Setsoto Stadium on Sunday.
The couple exchanged their wedding vows with the guidance of the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) Cathedral Administrator, Reverend Father (Rev. Fr.) Molefi Ramosoeu.
At the occasion, Reverend Father (Rev. Fr.) Gabriel Lehloka said love and respect should be the cornerstone of their marriage.
He said the PM and his wife should be an example to all Basotho.
Rev. Fr. Lehloka pointed out that the Prime Minister and his wife should always put God first in all their plans.
Thabane said, through the event, they wanted the nation to witness their love and commitment to each other.
He appreciated his wife’s love and support and promised to always protect and support her.
He said that all youth should seek guidance from God in all their plans and always engage in prayer to become better individuals.
Also, Mrs. Thabane said their love life had been a long and hurtful journey.
The First Lady thanked Thabane’s family as well as her friends who supported and guided her during difficult times.
The Prime Minister of Swaziland, Mr. Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini congratulated the Thabane’s, adding that the unity should lead to the prosperity of the Basotho nation.
Senator Khoabane Theko and the Principal Chief of Thaba-Bosiu said the marriage is a great success for all Basotho since a happy family leads to a happy leader.
Dr. Thabane is 78, while his spouse is 40.
