Jhpiego targets more males for circumcision

Jhpiego to proceed with its campaigns during this winter season in order to provide its services to more males.
This was stated by Jhpiego Communication Manager Mrs. Polo Mots’oari in an interview on Thursday.
She noted that their intention is to reach more males from the age of 15 to 29 in their comfort zones so as to allow them to heal well.
She highlighted that most of their target audience will be holidays during this season as they are still in school, therefore they will pay them visit in their communities.
Mrs. Mots’oari indicated that they will hold public gatherings, visit bars, sport areas as well as churches to disseminate their message.
She pointed out that it is vital for every male to circumcise despite their age in order to contribute towards the reduction of conducting HIV by 60 percent.
She further reminded children who are under the age of 18 as well as their parents about the need for the parents’ consent when the child is to access this service.
Mrs. Mots’oari said to reach more males, they have also introduced door to door campaign which they intend to proceed with during this winter season.
She indicated that they will introduce interpersonal communication so as to change people’s perception about Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC).
VMMC is an important prevention strategy, reducing heterosexual men’s risk of contracting HIV by up to 60 percent.
Jhpiego is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) working with the Ministry of Health to implement VMMC for prevention of HIV and AIDS. It is financially supported by USAID.
