Scott should be fine, Advocate Hoeane

Following advice by the High Court Judge on March 28 this year that the Koalabata double murder accused Lehlohonolo Scott should refrain from not eating and eat in order to maintain fitness to stand his trial, his lawyer says he should be fine by now as he has not received any report about him not eating again.
Advocate Thulo Hoeane explained on Thursday that he last met with Scott when in court last month but expressed his believe that Scott has heeded to the Judge’s advice as it was the best thing to do not only for his life but also for the trial.
He mentioned that he had not inquired and or visited Scott in prison since the last court appearance to see how he is doing but indicated that he should be fine by now as the Lesotho Correctional Services (LCS) management could have informed him of any developments.
Meanwhile, Scott raised in court on March 28 that he was not eating and was in his 13th day with an empty stomach and his lawyer further revealed outside court that Scott complained of ill-treatment by prison wardens which he alleged were not treating him well in that they isolated him and denied him reading materials they used to give him.
The case against Scott who is charged together with his mother ‘Malehlohonolo has since been postponed to May 02 to 15, July 24 to 28, August 01 to 04 and August 15 to 18, this year because of the illness of Scott’s mother.
The Scott’s are charged for brutally murdering Moholobela Seetsa and Kamohelo Mohata of Koalabata during incidents that happened on January 11, 2012 and July 10, 2012 respectively.
Lehlohonolo is also charged for escaping from lawful prison custody in October 2012.
Advocates Gareth Leppan and Thapelo Mokuku represent the crown in this case that is before Justice Teboho Moiloa.
