Top tax officers suspended pending forensic audit

MASERU (TNS) – Five top members of the senior managers of the Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) have been suspended with effect from Wednesday March 7 following the appointment of a forensic audit firm, PKF Chartered Accountants, by the finance and audit committee (FAC) of the board of directors to establish the veracity, or lack thereof, of the allegations by the Lesotho Revenue Authority Staff Union (LERAFU).

According to a memo signed by the Commissioner General of the LRA, Mr Thabo Khasipe, to all staff on March 7, “at its meeting on the 7th March 2018, the board resolved to immediately suspend for a six-week period, the following individuals, pending a forensic audit of allegations made to the board by LERAFU against them: Mr Mangangole Tsikinyane – Chief Financial Officer, Ms Ida Penane – Chief Planning and Modernisation Officer, Dr Seth Macheli – Chief Legal and Policy Officer and Acting Board Secretary, Adv. Realeboha Mathaba – Commissioner Enforcement and MrMoutloatsi Dichaba – Head Litigation.”

Mr Khasipe said during the time , the following officers would be acting in the positions of the suspended officers: Ms Kabanyane Tladi, Mr Rakokoana Makoa, Mr Mahlomola Manyokole and Mr Letsipa Mofilikoane.
