OlympAfrica: Strive for excellence

Maseru – The Lesotho National Committee, through the Lepereng OlymAfrica Centre and FutbolNet, held a two-day training event on incorporation of Olympic and futbolNet values in daily training sessions for football administrators and coaches for C and B Division teams within the Lepereng settlement and those who might be interested. The programme started on Saturday.

OlympAfrica Centre Manager, Mr Khotso Mahloko said the Olympic and FutbolNet is a joint initiative of the FC Barcelona Foundation and International Olympic Committee that values education and spearheaded by the International OlympAfrica Foundation and implemented OlympAfrica centres.

He said this initiative seeks to strengthen critical thinking, dialogue, and foster autonomy among players, coaches and teams.

“This initiative also strives to encourage players to practice what they learn on the field of play in their daily lives,” he said.

Mr Mahloko said trainees must be encouraged to strive for excellence in sport and be ambitious.

He also said players must be trained to respect one another and exercise humility, friendship and teamwork.

“Teams from settlements around the Lepereng OlympAfrica will be awarded certificates of attendance at the end of the training,” Mr Mahloko said.

OlympAfrica have been training schools in this regard, but this was the first time they engaged teams. Lena
