The third meeting of the India-Lesotho Joint Bilateral Commission of Cooperation (JBCC) was held last Friday at the Ministry of External Affairs Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan Building in New Delhi, India.
The Indian delegation was led by the India’s Joint Secretary (E&SA) Ministry of External Affairs, Dr. Neena Malhotra, and Lesotho delegation was led by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, H.E. Nkopane Monyane.
During the JBCC, the two sides reviewed the entire gamut of bilateral relations and discussed regional and multilateral issues.
The Lesotho delegation graciously thanked India for the gift of 500 metric tonnes of rice which was handed over to the government of Lesotho on November 29, 2017 and expressed gratitude for the establishment of an IT centre by India which was recently inaugurated on November 29, 2017.
Both sides agreed to the need for urgent reforms in the UN and called for an early completion of Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT).
Indian delegation thanked Lesotho for their continued support to India’s candidature to the Permanent membership in an expanded UNSC.
Talks were held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the close and friendly relations that exist between the two nations.
