Man shot dead in Mafeteng

Mafeteng police is currently investigating a murder case of a 40 year-old man of Ha Motloheloa, Maseru who was shot dead at Race Course on Monday night.

The Officer Commanding Mafeteng Police, Senior Superintendent Tšeliso Baholo said the deceased who was employed by Makhakhe Lion Construction renovating a Mini Prison in Mafeteng was sitting alone in his temporary shelter.

It is alleged that an unknown man entered the shelter and shot him several times on the body leaving him for dead.

Sn/Supt Baholo said the deceased sustained serious open wounds all over the body.

He highlighted that no arrests have been made concerning the case.

He appealed to members of the community to provide police with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

He however said that as the police they will not get tired of looking for strategies to prevent criminal activities.

He also called on members of the community to surrender illegal firearms to nearby Police Posts or Area Chiefs, adding that they will not be arrested as majority of those weapons are being used to kill innocent people and to carry out criminal activities.
